Tshepo Mpshe grew up in the rural village of Legonyane, some two hours’ drive from Pretoria. With a keen interest in reading almost every written text and his father being a great spender on weekly newspapers, it is not shocking that his political awareness was somehow above that of his peers. Perhaps this is where the appreciation (or the hate) of law emanates.
Having completed matric under difficult times, he went on to complete numerous post-matric qualifications in Engineering, going as far as obtaining a Master of Technology in Industrial Engineering. He served the automotive manufacturing industry in South Africa and United Kingdom and travelled the world across to ply his trade. This did not fill his quest to touch humanity.
Spurred by the sudden and painful loss of his son and sad observation of injustice in the automotive industry, and which injustice resembled that of many industries, he registered for LLB with the University of South Africa and not only completed the course in record time, despite being in full and demanding employment in that period, he obtained just under one percentage shy of a cum laude. The rest is history!
